Managing Increasing Prices and Declining Budgets

Although the outlook for pricing in the industry looks fairly stable in the near future, managing price increases and declining budgets can be tricky.  Shrinking demand often can trigger price increases as manufacturers and distributors fight to maintain profitability during hard economic times.  This presentation from Housekeeping Solutions can help you better understand how to manage through this situation and come out on top.

The importance of cleaning for health in schools

This article outlines the importance of cleaning for health and not just appearance in schools.  Cleaning for health has proven to decrease absenteeism and increase test scores in school aged children, as well as college students.  With school administrators fighting for every dollar, keeping kids in the classroom and learning should be a bigger priority.

More Price Increases Coming

Another round of price increases has been announced my most of the major manufacturers of trash can liners and plastic products.  The latest increases, set to go in to affect in July, will raise prices on anything made with plastics or oil by-products.  The increase will be 3-5% on most items, with some increases over 10% on some plastic products.   This will affect everything from spray bottles, trash liners, mop buckets, and other products made with plastics.

It also appears that paper goods will also increase in the next 30-45 days as transportation cost continue to rise nationally.  Increased global demand, fuel prices and the costs of petroleum are the major drivers of the latest round of increases.  Stay tuned for more information.
